Igniting Passion, Achieving Excellence
Welcome to Eastern Flames, a trailblazing women's football club that emerged from the flames of determination and passion in 2006. Founded by Kaye Smith in a landscape where women's sports faced limitations, Eastern Flames has evolved into a powerhouse in regional tournaments, symbolizing the transformation of women's sports in Saudi Arabia.
Our Journey
From humble beginnings, the Eastern Flames started as a small team in Aramco's community, overcoming initial challenges in player and coach recruitment. Despite the obstacles, the team hosted tournaments, steadily building a foundation of dedication and commitment.
Under new management in 2014, led by Maram Al Butairi and co-manager Karina Chapa, the Eastern Flames embraced a culture of progress. Striving to enhance skills and expand their reach, the team joined the Arsenal Soccer School Cup league in Bahrain, learning from setbacks and returning stronger each season.
Beyond Boundaries
The Eastern Flames didn't just aim for regional success—they aspired to compete on a broader stage. In 2020, they made history by participating in the Gulf Cooperation Council, facing formidable opponents and gaining valuable experience. The team's triumphs continued with consecutive wins in the Eastern Region league in 2020 and 2021, earning them a place in the Women's SAFF National league.
Pioneering Saudi Women's Football
As ambassadors for women's sports in Saudi Arabia, the Eastern Flames secured their spot in the country's first-ever women's premier league in 2022. This groundbreaking achievement marked a historic moment for the club. With a commitment to inclusivity, the Eastern Flames have expanded their roster, signing contracts with talented players from North Africa and welcoming Colombian striker Sara Toro.
Join Our Journey
Eastern Flames is more than a football club; it's a symbol of resilience, progress, and the unstoppable spirit of women in sports. Join us as we continue to break barriers, inspire change, and elevate the game.
